1. Find the surface area and volume of composite three-dimensional shapes. Pupils draw net according to the given measurements, cut out the shape and fold to make a three-dimensional shape. Next, unfold the shape and use the graph paper to find the area. Verify that the area is the surface area of the 3-D shape.
LEARNING OUTCOMES : Pupils will be able to… Teacher provides a three-dimensional composite shape with given dimensions. Pupils calculate the surface area of the shape.

LEARNING OUTCOMES : Pupils will be able to… Teacher prepares some templates in the form of circular fraction charts and a suitable data set. Teacher then guides pupils to select the right template to begin constructing the pie chart.
i) Construct a pie chart from a given set of data. • Teacher provides a pie chart and guides pupils to extract information from the chart to construct a data table. Remind the meaning of frequency, mode, range, etc.
(ii) Determine the frequency, mode, range, mean, maximum and minimum value from a pie chart. • Pupils discuss and present their findings and understanding of charts and tables.

Penguasaan guru dalam ICT diutamakan - TPM

LONDON 12 Jan. - Malaysia yakin penggunaan teknologi maklumat dan komunikasi (ICT) dalam proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran di sekolah-sekolah mudah dilaksanakan dengan penumpuan kepada penguasaan di kalangan guru-guru.Timbalan Perdana Menteri, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin berkata, pendedahan melalui kursus berterusan kepada pentadbir sekolah, pengetua dan guru-guru dalam mewujudkan golongan celik komputer telah menunjukkan kesan ketara kepada perkembangan ICT di Malaysia.Menurutnya, kajian British Commonwealth Group (BCG) 2008 dengan kerjasama Unit Perancang Ekonomi (EPU) berkaitan Koridor Raya Multimedia (MSC) Malaysia menunjukkan wujudnya peningkatan kesedaran dan kreativiti di kalangan guru dan murid dalam penguasaan ICT."Malaysia mempunyai banyak inisiatif termasuk video pendidikan melalui web, EduWeb TV, dengan 9,331 sekolah mempunyai akses kepada lapan saluran projek School-Net melalui jalur lebar bagi mengurangkan jurang digital antara penduduk luar bandar dan bandar."Makmal komputer juga dibina di 6,633 sekolah. Pusat akses Internet sekolah dengan konsep kafe siber diwujudkan bagi kemudahan murid mencari maklumat di 3,029 sekolah di luar bandar," katanya.Beliau yang juga Menteri Pelajaran menyampaikan ucaptama di Forum Pembelajaran dan Teknologi Baru 2010 di Pusat Persidangan Queen Elizabeth II di sini hari ini.Seramai 73 Menteri Pelajaran dan juga pemimpin serta pegawai-pegawai pendidikan dunia menghadiri forum tersebut yang membincangkan mengenai pembelajaran dalam bidang ICT.Ia forum pendidikan terbesar di dunia yang memfokuskan pembangunan dan integrasi ICT dalam pembelajaran di sekolah-sekolah.Forum ini memberi peluang kepada Menteri Pelajaran, pegawai kanan kerajaan dan pihak berkaitan bertukar-tukar pendapat serta pengalaman mengenai pengunaan ICT di negara masing-masing.Tambah Muhyiddin, gabungan penggunaan ICT dalam sistem pendidikan Malaysia telah memperlihatkan banyak kerjasama antara sektor swasta dan awam dalam membentuk perkongsian pintar.Timbalan Perdana Menteri berkata, kini menjadi cabaran kepada guru berperanan sebagai fasilitator bagi memastikan penggunaan ICT yang membawa kepada pelbagai bentuk kemajuan itu dapat dicapai."Pada masa sama, kita juga sentiasa mengingatkan para guru bahawa teknologi itu hanyalah alat."Interaksi di dalam kelas dengan murid-murid juga perlu diutamakan di samping penggunaan ICT dalam pembelajaran. Tiada teknologi yang boleh menggantikan guru," jelasnya.Katanya, cabaran lain adalah kos yang tinggi dalam melaksanakan ICT terutama ketika negara menghadapi krisis ekonomi,Bagaimanapun, tambahnya, kerajaan mendapat kerjasama baik daripada komuniti sekitar dan sektor swasta dalam menjayakan program ICT di sekolah.Muhyiddin turut menyentuh mengenai keperluan menjadikan pendidikan sebagai pertahanan paling utama negara bagi keselamatan ekonomi dan memberi jaminan kesihatan termasuk membantu dunia memerangi kebuluran."Selain menjadikan forum ini sebagai medan perkongsian kemahiran mengenai teknologi, jadikan ia untuk menjalinkan kerjasama erat bagi keamanan dunia melalui komunikasi dan informasi teknologi yang lebih baik dalam ikatan persaudaraan pendidikan," katanya. - utusan( 13/1/2010)

Apa dia Matematik

Matematik selalunya didefinisikan sebagai pembelajaran/kajian mengenai corak struktur, perubahan dan ruang, atau dengan kata lain, kajian mengenai nombor dan gambar rajah. Matematik juga ialah penyiasatan aksiomatik yang menerangkan struktur abstrak menggunakan logik dan simbol matematik. Matematik dilihat sebagai lanjutan mudah kepada bahasa perbualan dan penulisan, dengan kosa kata dan tatabahasa yang sangat jelas, untuk menghurai dan mendalami hubungan fizikal dan konsep.

Lawak berteknologi

Tiga org sahabat sedang mandi wap di bilik sauna, seorang Amerika, seorang Jepun dan seorang Indonesia. Dikeheningan berada didalam bilik sauna tiba tiba dipecahkan dengan bunyi... .bip... bip... .bip... . Orang Amerika tadi terus membuka telapak tangan kirinya, dan seakan membaca sesuatu. Kedua si Jepun dan Indonesia tadi terpinga-pinga lantas si Amerika ni pun berkata, "Disebabkan tgn saya telah ditanamkan cip berteknologi tinggi maka saya boleh terima SMS dan MMS tanpa hand set... ." Maka kagum la si Jepun dan Indonesia ni.
Seminit kemudian terdengar pulak deringan telefon di dalam bilik sauna tersebut. Tetiba si Jepun pun mengangkat tangan kirinya dan seakan menjawab panggilan telefon tadi. Ibu jari nyer diletakkan di mulut dan jari kelingkingnyer di telinga.panggilan melalui jari jari saya tanpa menggunakan hp... "
Setelah habis menjawab maka si Jepun pun berkata, "oleh kerana tangan saya ditanam cip berteknologi tinggi maka saya boleh menjawab dan menerima Melihatkan keadaan canggih manggih kedua si Amerika dan si Jepun, si Indonesia ni pun terpinga dan berbisik sendirian... "Alamak apa yg boleh aku sembahkan untuk mengalahkan mereka berdua ni... ?" Kerana stress akibat memikirkan hal tadi maka perutnyer pun terasa nak membuang. Lalu si indon ni pun keluar pergi ke toilet. Setelah selesai membuang si indon ni kembali ke bilik sauna. Akibat kepayahan untuk mencuci dengan tisu tandas maka ader lebihan tisu di celah-celah kelangkangnyer. Dengan keheranan dan jijik nyer si Amerika dan si Jepun pun bertanya... "kertas apa yang terjuntai kat celah tu... ?"
Lantas si indon ni pun jawab ngan selamber nyer... ."Oh saya baru terima Fax... ... "
